A strictly limited Australian Premiere Season of arguably the most infamous Broadway musical of all-time, CARRIE THE MUSICAL, will play the Seymour Centre now through November 30 as the final production in their 2013 Reginald season of independent works. CARRIE THE MUSICAL is also the final production of Squabbalogic Independent Music Theatre's first annual season, following hugely popular runs of Forbidden Broadway and Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson. BroadwayWorld has a sneak peek at the production below!
This is a freshly revised and reimagined musical take onStephen King's gripping classic novel, having been previously unseen since its infamous 1988 Broadway production where it played only 5 official performances. An overhaul of the piece was conducted in New York in 2012 with the original authors at the helm including book writer Lawrence D. Cohen and Academy Award winning songwriters Michael Gore and Dean Pitchford (Best Original Song, FAME). Directed by Squabbalogic Artistic Director Jay James-Moody, with Musical Direction by Bev Kennedy and Choreography by Shondelle Pratt, CARRIE THE MUSICAL tells the story of outcast Carrie White. Bullied by the in-crowd, virtually invisible to everyone else, and at the mercy of her cruel and controlling mother, Carrie has just discovered a special power. And if pushed too far, she may not be able to control it. This highly anticipated Australian Premiere production boasts a stellar cast of Sydney's finest emerging and established talent including Hilary Cole as Carrie and Margi de Ferranti (Mamma Mia, Les Mis) as her mother Margaret; Adèle Parkinson (Legally Blonde), Garry Scale (Hairspray, Fat Swan) and Monique Sallé (A Chorus Line).Videos
