Pulitzer-Prize-winning author David Mamet's Speed-the-Plow premiered on Broadway in 1988 at the Royale Theatre, starring Madonna. This was the pop sensation's first theatrical role on the Great White Way. Below, watch interviews and more from opening night in 1988!

Speed-the-Plow is Mamet's satire of the film industry and was nominated for Tony Awards for Best Play and Best Direction of a Play (Gregory Mosher). The show ran for a total of 23 previews and 279 performances on Broadway.

Madonna starred as 'Karen' alongside Joe Mantegna as 'Bobby Gould' and Ron Silver as 'Charlie Fox'.

The show's original creative team featured scenic design by Michael Merritt, costume design by Nan Cibula, and lighting design by Kevin Rigdon.
