NBC reports that an actor was injured on the set of Broadway's SPIDER-MAN: TURN OFF THE DARK this evening, August 15.

The show was cancelled and emergency responders arrived at the Foxwoods Theatre just after 9 p.m. to attend to an actor whose leg had become pinned under some equipment backstage.

The actor was transported to Bellevue in serious condition. BWW will bring you updates as more news is released, as well as an official statement, which is expected to come on Friday.

SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark features music and lyrics by 22-time Grammy Award-winners Bono and The Edge and a book co-written by Julie Taymor, Glen Berger and Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, with direction by Ms. Taymor and additional direction by Philip William McKinley. Scenic Designer George Tsypin and Costume Designer Eiko Ishioka are winners of Outer Critics Circle Awards and were nominated for Tony Awards for their work on Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark.
