Royal Players to Hold Auditions for SHREK

The Royal Players will hold auditions for its upcoming production of Shrek: The Musical on Saturday, January 30th and Sunday, January 31st at 6:00pm (Open Call). If necessary, callbacks will be held on Tuesday, February 2nd. This production will be directed by Mark A. Burbank, with choreography by Justin A. Pike. Rehearsals will begin March 3rd. Come to the Royal Theatre, 111 S. Market St., Downtown Benton. There will be a notice if auditions are actually at a nearby alternate location. Shrek The Musical is a musical with music by Jeanine Tesori and book and lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire. It is based on the 2001 DreamWorks film Shrek and William Steig's 1990 book Shrek!.

Auditions:

Saturday, January 30th from 6:00-9:00pm

Sunday, January 31st from 6:00-9:00pm

Invited callbacks will be:

Tuesday, February 2nd from 6:00-9:00pm

Performances: April 14-17 and 21-24, 2016

All auditionees should be at least 7 years of age and should prepare a song that best features their vocal ability and personality. Performers are required to bring 32 bars of music either from, or in the same style of, the show for the initial audition. An accompanist will be provided. Everyone will be asked to attend a dance call following the singing portion of the audition, and some may be asked to do a cold read from the script. Headshot and resume are strongly encouraged, but not required.

Seeking an ethnically diverse company and a large range of ages. This is a show performed by adults with a few roles for children.
