2013 Tony Award winner for Best Actor In A Musical, KINKY BOOTS's own triple-threat headliner Billy Porter, was feted in his hometown of Pittsburgh, PA, yesterday, where it was officially named Billy Porter Day in the actor's honor.

Porter returned to his alma mater in recognition of the event, Carnegie Mellon University - the collegiate home of many Broadway luminaries, among them composer Stephen Schwartz and this week's InDepth InterView subject Rene Auberjonois, to cite but two - and instructed the drama students in a few of the ways in which to make it on the Great White Way, something which Porter has done since his smashing debut in the Broadway revival of GREASE twenty years ago.

Of course, in addition to KINKY BOOTS, Porter has appeared in many notable productions, on Broadway and beyond, including the celebrated 2001 DREAMGIRLS benefit concert, as well as the original casts of SONGS FROM A NEW WORLD and RADIANT BABY.

KINKY BOOTS is now playing on Broadway at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre. More information is available at the official site here.
