Sunday's world premiere of David Henry Hwang's latest play, Yellow Face, attracted prominent members of the Asian artistic community at the Mark Taper Forum.

The co-production of Center Theatre Group and the Public Theater of New York in association with East West Players of Los Angeles is directed by Leigh Silverman and stars Hoon Lee and Peter Scanavino.

Hwang's  (M. Butterfly) play is "a wild satire that places the Tony Award-winning author himself in the midst of the familial politics and international intrigue that erupt out of a seemingly benign casting choice.  Yellow Face questions the motives of artists, journalists, Senate investigators and anyone who claims to pursue the 'truth.'  The result is a hilarious and provocative genre-bending play that will leave audiences pondering the value of racial identity versus cultural identity, issues of artistic and journalistic integrity and the very nature of reality," state press notes.

Yellow Face continues performances through April 29 at the Mark Taper Forum, located at 135 N. Grand Avenue in Los Angeles.  Tickets can be purchased by calling 213-628-2772, online at www.CenterTheatreGroup.org or at the CTG box office.
