Penguin Rep Theatre has extended the run of its widely-acclaimed production of Tom Dudzick's comedy Over the Tavern, executive director Andrew M. Horn announced today. Over the Tavern, which was originally slated to close June 6, will be presented through Sunday, June 13.

Staged by Thomas Caruso, Over the Tavern has played to sold-out audiences since it opened Penguin Rep's 2010 season in Stony Point (Rockland County), New York on May 14.

The comedy by Nyack resident Dudzick, who also wrote last season's hit Our Lady of South Division Street, stars Jonny Adamow, Stephan Adamov, Christopher Cox, Kevin Cutts, Judy Frank, Kathryn Markey and Ashley Scales.

Peter D. Kramer of The Journal News and Lohud.com wrote: "Over the Tavern is an overall delight. Family's tale (is) funny (and) heart-warming." (To read the review in its entirety, go to: http://www.lohud.com/section/Entertainment0802). George Dacre in The Rockland County Times wrote: "Tom Dudzick ... does it again. Following last season's hit Our Lady of South Division Street, Dudzick tickles your funny bone with this saga of the Pazinski family. Four Stars Out of Four."

Performances of Over the Tavern are scheduled Thursdays and Fridays at 8 p.m., Saturdays at 4 p.m. and 8 p.m., and Sundays at 2 p.m. until June 6, 2009, and, during the extension, Friday, June 11 at 8 p.m., Saturday, June 12 at 4 p.m. and 8 p.m., and Sunday, June 12 at 2 p.m.

All performances are at Penguin Rep's intimate, 108-seat theatre located at 7 Crickettown Road in Stony Point (Rockland County). (Directions are accessible at www.penguinrep.org or by calling 845-786-2873).
Tickets are $33.
Penguin Rep's 2010 season also includes the New York premiere of Shooting Star, a romantic comedy about second chances by Steven Dietz (July 9 through August 1); Mark Brown's fast-paced comic adventure for the whole family, Around the World in 80 Days, adapted from Jules Verne's classic novel (August 13 through September 5); and the New York premiere of Jeffrey Hatcher's comedy Mrs. Mannerly about a demanding teacher and her colorful collection of students (October 1 through October 24).

Season subscriptions starting as low as $88 for the four plays are also on sale.

Tickets can be ordered on-line 24 hours a day at www.penguinrep.org, or by calling the box office during business hours at 845-786-2873.
