Director/Designer Carlos Soto presents Everything Alright as part of New York Live Arts' residency program, Live Feed in Progress. Soto's new work is a musical theater work that follows a group of people faced with the intrusion of a visitor. The piece revolves around infinite variations of views and values centered on a traumatic event. In the formlessness of the ensemble, characters rotate and no single person plays one role throughout, blurring chronology and place.
New York Live Arts' Live Feed, a creative residency program supporting the development of new work, is one of the three development programs offered by the organization. Informal public showings followed by a discussion with the artists, offer a sneak peek into each resident artists' process and ideas before they hit the stage. The 2016-2018 Live Feed artists are DANCENOICE, Jack Ferver, Joanna Kotze, Carlos Soto, Paloma McGregor, and Walter Dundervill. Carlos J. Soto is a director and designer based in New York. His piece GIRLMACHINE, created in collaboration with Charles Chemin, premiered at Performa 09 and was presented in Paris by the American University of Paris. Pig Pig Pig (2010) was performed at the Moscow Museum of Modern Art. In 2011, Soto was featured in an evening of works curated by Robert Wilson for Works & Process at the Guggenheim Museum, NY. In 2013, Pace Gallery, NY, exhibited video work by Soto created in residence at Willem De Kooning's studio in Springs, NY.Videos
