Almost a year ago, National Endowment for the Arts director of theatre and musical theatre Ralph Remington departed his position, and according to the Washington Post, the post is still yet to be filled.

An NEA spokeswoman told WP: "We are working hard to find the best candidate. Sometimes that process takes longer than expected."

Playwright Jacqueline Lawton commented: "I loved Ralph. He did a fantastic job. He made sure to have a real presence in the community. He wasn't just leading from the top. He wanted to be on the ground with other artists."

She continued: "We just need someone who understands what we need for our communities. We need someone out there every single day, not just on Arts Advocacy Day."
