NY Playwrights Lab to Premiere Isreal Horovitz's New Play

Israel Horovitz's New York Playwrights Lab will present the New York premiere of Horovitz's The Secret of Mme. Bonnard's Bath as its inaugural production.  The show will begin performances on Saturday, February 3, opening on Thursday, February 8 running through February 24 at Theatre Row's Kirk Theatre (410 West 42 Street).

"Is it the search for an absolute brush stroke of vibrant color that led Pierre Bonnard, one of the most enigmatic masters of the 20th century, to suddenly revise his painting ... even though it was hanging on the wall of a small Paris museum? Or was it the artist's need to revisit a long-hidden and tragic love? Two young art students discover the changed painting and uncover The Secret of Mme Bonnard's Bath... Israel Horovitz's masterful new play promises mystery, romance, intellect and humor, " press notes state.

The cast includes John Shea (TV's "Louis & Clark", "Mutant X", Stage: Yentil, How I Learned to Drive, Down the Garden Path, The Director), Michael Bakkensen (Festen; The Man Who Came To Dinner, The Paris Letter) and Stephanie Janssen (Cupid and Psyche , Machiavelli)

Playwright/director Horovitz is author of more than 50 produced plays, several of which have been translated and performed in as many as 30 languages, worldwide including Park Your Car In Harvard Yard, and Morning, Noon, and Night. He has won numerous writing awards, including the OBIE (twice), the Eemmy, The Drama Desk Award, and The European Academy Award to name a few.

The Secret of Mme. Bonnard's Bath begins Saturday, February 3, and runs February 8th through the 24th. Shows play Wednesday- Saturday at 8PM and Saturdays at 2PM (added perf Sunday, February 4 at 3PM) at Theatre Row Theatre's Kirk Theatre is located at 410 West 42 Street. Tickets are $18.
