Morrison, Winningham, Etc. to Star in 10 Million Miles

Atlantic Theater Company, in association with Tom Hulce and Ira Pittelman, have announced complete casting and dates for 10 Million Miles, the second world premiere musical in Atlantic's history and the final main stage production of its 2006-2007 season.

Irene Molloy, Matthew Morrison, Skipp Sudduth and Mare Winningham will star in the new musical featuring music and lyrics by Grammy Award-nominated recording artist Patty Griffin ("Impossible Dream"), a book by Keith Bunin (The Credeaux Canvas) and direction by Tony Award-nominee Michael Mayer (Spring Awakening).  

10 Million Miles will begin previews on Friday, May 11th, open on Thursday, June 14th and play a limited engagement through Sunday, July 1st, 2007 Off-Broadway at Atlantic Theater Company at The Linda Gross Theater. (336 West 20th Street).  

The musical, according to press materials, "tells the story of Duane (Morrison) and Molly's (Molloy) road trip in an old pick-up truck from the southern tip of Florida to the Northwest corner of New York, with many detours along the way.  With a book by Keith Bunin and songs by Patty Griffin, the world premiere of this new musical explores the pursuit of love and family, and the geography of the American dream.

Two-time Grammy Award nominated recording artist Patty Griffin's celebrated songwriting has been embraced by a diverse assortment of artists, including The Dixie Chicks, Bette Midler, Reba McEntire, Jessica Simpson and Linda Ronstadt, all of whom have recorded her songs. Her newly released album "Children Running Through" continues her creative evolution. Keith Bunin's acclaimed play The Busy World is Hushed had its world premiere Off-Broadway last season and recently concluded a Los Angeles engagement featuring original star Jill Clayburgh. His plays include The Credeaux Canvas and The World Over.  Three-time Tony Award-nominee Michael Mayer (Thoroughly Modern Millie, A View From the Bridge) returns to Atlantic, where he staged the smash hit world premiere production of Spring Awakening last season. 

Molloy has appeared on Broadway in The Civil War, and regionally in the original production of Whistle Down the Wind directed by Hal Prince (Helen Hayes Award nomination Best actress), and as Juliet in Romeo and Juliet (Ordway Theater). She has been seen as a series regular on WB's "Grosse Pointe" and the Fox series "Andy Richter Controls the Universe."  She is also a singer and songwriter.

Morrison is a Tony-nominee for his performance in The Light in the Piazza.  Other Broadway credits include Hairspray, Naked Girl on the Appian Way, Footloose, and The Rocky Horror Show. Film work includes Music and Lyrics, Blinders, I Think I Love My Wife, Marci X, Primary Colors and the upcoming film Dan in Real Life. "Sex and the City" and the ABC movie "Once Upon a Mattress" (with Carol Burnett and Tracey Ullman) are among TV credits.  

Sudduth returns to Atlantic Theater Company where he last appeared in the world premiere of Woody Allen's play Writer's Block. He is best known for his role as Officer John 'Sully' Sullivan in all six seasons of NBC's Emmy Award winning television series "Third Watch." Broadway appearances include The Iceman Cometh, Twelfth Night, and The Grapes of Wrath (also at London's National Theatre). He has appeared on numerous TV shows and in films.  Sudduth is also a singer/songwriter and has released three albums.

Winningham has appeared in more than 50 film and television projects, garnering an Academy Award® nomination and Independent Spirit Award for the film Georgia and Emmy Awards for the television movies "George Wallace" and "Amber Waves."  Theatre credits include starring alongside Sean Penn and Danny Aiello in the Los Angeles production of Hurlyburly, directed by David Rabe; Side Man at the Pasadena Playhouse; Lessons, directed by Adam Robinson; and The Genius at The Mark Taper Forum.  Select feature film credits: Maldonado Miracle, Wyatt Earp, Nobody's Fool, and St. Elmo's Fire. Winningham is an accomplished singer-songwriter who has recorded three albums.

The musical will play Tuesday through Friday at 8pm, Saturday at 2pm & 8pm and Sundays at 3:00 p.m.  All tickets will be $65.00 and available by calling Ticket Central at 212-279-4200 (www.ticketcentral.com) beginning Monday, March 26, 2007. Please note: there will be 7:30 p.m. performances on Sunday, May 13th & 20th and no 3:00 p.m. matinees. There will be no performance on Sunday, June 3rd.
