More Cast Members Join Westport Playhouse's "All About Us"

 Westport Country Playhouse recently announced that more actors from Broadway, film and television will join the cast of the new musical, "All About Us," opening the Playhouse 2007 season, April 10 through April 28.

 "All About Us", based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning play, "The Skin of Our Teeth" by Thornton Wilder, is the humorous and poignant story of the indestructible Antrobus family who survived a thousand calamities by the skin of their teeth. Music and lyrics will be provided by Kander and Ebb (Chicago, Cabaret) and direction is by Gabriel Barre, a Tony and Drama Desk Award nominee.  

Cast members previously announced in February are Grammy, Emmy and three-time Tony Award nominee Eartha Kitt, and Tony Award winners Shuler Hensley and Cady Huffman. Newly added cast members include Yvette Freeman (Dinah Was) as Mrs. Antrobus.

Other cast members include Eric Michael Gillett (The Frogs, Kiss Me Kate), Drew Taylor (Sweet Smell of Success, Annie), Michael-Leon ("Dreamgirls"), Michael Thomas Holmes (The Producers), J. Elaine Marcos (The Wedding Singer, Sweet Charity,) Daniel Marcus (Woman in White, Urinetown), and Rachelle Rak (Oklahoma!, Cats).  

Others in the cast include Tony Freeman as Stage Manager, David Standish as Hologram Boy, and ensemble members Frank Vlastnick and Sally Ann Tumas.


More on the 2007 Playhouse Season…

"The rich history of the Westport Country Playhouse dates back to 1931, when New York theatre producers Lawrence Langner and his wife Armina Marshall created a Broadway-quality stage within an 1830s cow barn.  Now celebrating its 77th season, the Playhouse has produced more than 700 plays, 35 of which later transferred to Broadway, and has welcomed more than 4 million audience members", state press materials.

Other shows scheduled to run in the Playhouse's 2007 season include Souvenir, running from May 31 through June 16; Mary's Wedding, June 21 through July 7; Relatively Speaking, July 12 through July 28; Sedition, August 2 through August 18; Being Alive - Sondheim Meets Shakespeare, August 23 through September 8; and The Turn of the Screw, October 11 through October 27.  


Performance Schedule and Ticket Information

The performance schedule for "All About Us" will be Tuesday at 8 p.m., Wednesday at 2 and 8 p.m., Thursday and Friday at 8 p.m., Saturday at 4 and 8 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m.  Opening night, including a post-performance party, will take place on Saturday, April 14. The Sunday Symposium on April 15 will bring authorities on the themes of the play to provide the audience with insights on historical and dramatic context; TalkBack Thursday, April 26, will feature members of the company returning to the stage after the performance for a lively discussion with the audience.

Subscription ticket packages to Westport Country Playhouse's 2007 season are on sale now and range from $133.75 to $388 each for 5-play, 6-play and 7-play series.  "All About Us" is included in the 6- and 7-play series.
