Molly McGaughey is a comedian and filmmaker based out of Manhattan. In her one-woman show, The 'Minor' Traumatic Year, McGaughey turns her experiences of suffering a minor traumatic brain injury into a hilarious comedy about losing cognitive function, bed rest, a stream of bad luck, angst, and a search for resilience, healing and growth.

Molly maintains her signature lighthearted and bubbly attitude in material that is honest and vulnerable. Her delightfully creative show keeps the audience enraptured and laughing through a unique mixture of standup, storytelling, musical parodies, original songs, multi-media elements, and visual art. This show manages to make something as specific as a brain injury relatable and fun to watch for anyone who has ever gone through a hard time.

While the show is structured around standup and stories, almost every storytelling device you can think of is used, from interpretive dances, to video sketches to upbeat show-tunes that breakout at unexpected moments. The variety of theatrical mediums engage, entertain and creatively illustrate a roller coaster of emotions and experiences.

The Minor Traumatic Year will play at The People's Improv Theatre, Striker Stage 123 E 24th St., NYC at 9:30pm, August 12th

The Minor Traumatic Year was directed by Alexandra Clayton and has previously been featured in NYC at QED Astoria and at the Peoples Improv Theater's SOLOCOM festival. McGaughey specializes in directing, writing and performing original comedic material for film, stage, and web. Her comedic work has also been featured on FunnyorDie, Timeout New York, and Backstage. She has written for and acted in various short films and performed multiple times at the PIT, QED Astoria, the Creek and the Cave, Plays and Players, and the Undiscovered Countries Festival.
