Marsha Mason will take on the tragic role of the title Trojan queen in Chicago Shakespeare Theatre's new staging of Euripides' Hecuba, which will run from April 26th through June 18th.

The play will be performed in a new adaptation by Frank McGuinness, who has previously written adaptations of A Doll's House and Electra as well as original works such as Someone Who'll Watch Over Me. Tony Award-winner Patrick Mason (Dancing at Lughnasa) will direct the production.

Mason will star as Hecuba, who is taken as a prisoner and slave by the victorous Greek forces after the Trojan War. The actress received an Oscar nomination for her work in The Goodbye Girl, the film for which she is best known. She received 3 other Oscar nominations for her performances in Cinderella Liberty, Chapter Two, and Only When I Laugh, and has appeared on Broadway in Steel Magnolias, The Good Doctor, The Night of the Iguana and Happy Birthday, Wanda June.
