Macy's announced a new commitment to giving back this winter through its "Buy 1 & We'll Give 1" effort. From Oct. 29 through Nov. 2, Macy's will donate one coat, up to 30,000 coats, to anti-poverty organization Clothes4Souls, for every coat purchased in the men's, women's, juniors' and children's outerwear departments in Macy's stores and on macys.com. Through this program, Macy's customers can experience the joy of giving while also saving - as the retailer will offer 25 percent off a large selection of men's, women's and children's coats for the duration of the campaign.

"Giving back is part of Macy's culture, especially during the holiday season," said Holly Thomas, Macy's vice president of national media relations and cause marketing. "Our partnership with Clothes4Souls is a unique new opportunity to match our customers' purchases with a product donation and will help men, women and children stay warm and healthy this winter. We know Macy's customers and associates will be excited about the opportunity to give back in this very meaningful way and to help us continue to build stronger, more vibrant communities through charitable efforts."

"Thanks to the caring generosity of one of our nation's most revered brand names, tens of thousands of people in need are going to receive the winter coats they so desperately need," said Soles4Souls spokesman Steven Silvers. "Macy's shows its commitment to the communities it serves everyday, and in partnering with Clothes4Souls this holiday season, it is also reminding those communities that together we can all make a difference in the fight against poverty."

Clothes4Souls is a division of Soles4Souls Inc., an international not-for-profit dedicated to fighting poverty and suffering through the distribution of clothing that it collects from manufacturers, designers, retailers and individuals. Clothes4Souls has distributed millions of articles of clothing in towns and cities through the United States in partnership with hundreds of local service and relief agencies. Coats donated as part of Macy's "Buy 1 & We'll Give 1" program will average in retail price from $40 to $100 each and will benefit local communities across the country as they will be distributed based on the location where the original coat is purchased. For every coat purchased in a local market, Macy's will donate one coat back to that same community.
