HOW TO PRODUCE A SHOW FROM YOUR COUCH is a detailed step by step guide to presenting a theatrical event from the co-creator of the hit musicals MIGHTY REAL: A FABULOUS SYLVESTER MUSICAL and AN EVENING WITH Phyllis Hyman. Having presented his shows successfully Off-Broadway as well as in markets such as San Francisco, Washington, DC, Philadelphia, Miami and Atlanta, Bowman shares his personal experiences, and clearly lays out vital information needed for both aspiring producers and artists looking to take control of both their arts and careers.

Born in Charleston, S.C., Kendrell L. Bowman graduated from The American Musical & Dramatic Academy in NYC. With a background in the fashion industry as a manager of luxury houses Louis Vuitton and Balenciaga, in 2010 he opened the doors to his own styling company I AM KENDRELL. As a stylist, he worked with artists such as Kanye West, Mariah Carey, Dawn Richard, K. MICHELLE, Lauriana Mae, Ashanti, and David Banner and his work has been featured in GQ, Essence, VIBE, and many other national publications. Along with Anthony Wayne, Kendrell is the creator and lead producer for the hit Off-Broadway shows MIGHTY REAL: A FABULOUS SYLVESTER MUSICAL (for which he also served as director and costume designer), and AN EVENING WITH Phyllis Hyman (director, book writer).

MIGHTY REAL: A FABULOUS SYLVESTER MUSICAL (formerly known as Fabulous, One More Time) began a series of concerts at le poisson rouge in New York City in 2012. These early concerts were followed by sold-out performances at The Howard Theatre in Washington, D.C. in January 2013, and additional concerts in Miami soon followed. MIGHTY REAL: A FABULOUS SYLVESTER MUSICAL made its Off-Broadway premiere in an acclaimed one-month limited engagement at Theatre at St. Clement's in September 2014. The critically acclaimed musical was nominated for a 2015 Off-Broadway Alliance Award and a 2015 AUDELCO Award for Best New Musical. In early 2015, the musical headed west to The BRAVA! Theater in San Francisco for a limited engagement, and performances/engagements followed in Philadelphia, D.C., and Atlanta. The show returned to The BRAVA! Theater in San Francisco for an acclaimed, sold-out limited engagement in February 2016. MIGHTY REAL: A FABULOUS SYLVESTER MUSICAL was featured in the acclaimed music documentary series "Unsung: Revisted" in 2015. MIGHTY REAL: A FABULOUS SYLVESTER MUSICAL Live Original Cast Recording is available online on iTunes and CD Baby.

AN EVENING WITH Phyllis Hyman enjoyed a sold out world-premiere limited engagement The Actor's Temple Theatre this past January. The musical takes place during Ms. Hyman's final performance in Philadelphia, the night before her scheduled Apollo performance on the day she took her life. The intimate show brings to life the untold story of the life, career and music of the singer/songwriter and actress in her own words, taking the audience on an inspirational evening of joy and pain with no regrets.

MIGHTY REAL: A FABULOUS SYLVESTER MUSICAL and AN EVENING WITH Phyllis Hyman will be presented together for one weekend only this May at The Gramercy Theater (127 East 23rd Street). AN EVENING WITH Phyllis Hyman will be performed on Saturday, May 20th at 8 PM (doors at 7 PM), and MIGHTY REAL: A FABULOUS SYLVESTER MUSICAL will be performed on Sunday, May 21st at 8 PM (doors at 7 PM).
