Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts at Brooklyn College closes its 2006-07 Broadway series with Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat on Sunday, March 18 at 2pm.

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat was the second musical theatre show written by the team of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice (the first being The Likes of Us, which was written in 1965 but didn't receive its first stage performance until 2005). Based on the "coat of many colors" story of Joseph from the Old Testament, this light-hearted show was first presented in 1968 as a fifteen-minute pop cantata at an all-boys school in England. After highly successful performances at the Edinburgh Festival and in London's West End, Joseph opened on Broadway in 1982 at the Royale Theatre, where it remained for 749 performances. The show was revived on Broadway in 1993 and ran for seven months. The story follows Joseph, the favored son of Jacob, as he is sold into slavery by his jealous brothers and eventually becomes top advisor to the Pharoah.

Other Andrew Lloyd Webber/Tim Rice collaborations include Jesus Christ Superstar and Evita. Andrew Lloyd Webber's credits with other lyricists include Cats, Song and Dance, Starlight Express, Phantom of the Opera, Aspects of Love, Sunset Boulevard, and Woman in White. Apart from Andrew Lloyd Webber, Tim Rice has written lyrics for Chess, Beauty and the Beast, Aida and The Lion King, as well as numerous films. Both Webber and Rice have been honored with multiple Tony, Drama Desk, and Olivier Awards.
