Charlotte d'Amboise Returns to Broadway's CHICAGO Tonight

This month, Broadway's Tony Award-winning, record-breaking musical smash Chicago is pleased to welcome back two-time Tony Award nominee Charlotte d'Amboise in a special return engagement as Roxie Hart. One of the most celebrated members of the worldwide Chicago family, d'Amboise rejoins the Broadway cast in the starring role for 14 performances only beginning tonight, January 22.

d'Amboise holds the record for having played Roxie Hart more than any other actress in the history of the production -- more than 2,500 performances on Broadway and the road combined to date.

For her portrayal of Roxie in the first national tour of Chicago, d'Amboise earned the L.A. Drama Critics Circle Award, L.A. Ovation Award and a Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle Award. She received Tony Award nominations for her performances in Jerome Robbins' Broadway and the revival of A Chorus Line.

Most recently, d'Amboise completed a two-year run as Fastrada in the Tony Award-winning Broadway revival of Pippin, for which she earned the 2013 Astaire Award. Her other Broadway credits include Sweet Charity, Contact, Company, Damn Yankees, Carrie, Song & Dance and Cats.

As Roxie Hart, d'Amboise takes over for Bianca Marroquin, who played her final performance on Sunday, January 11. Longtime Chicago veteran Dylis Croman starred as Roxie Hart from January 12 through January 20.

CHICAGO also stars Amra-Faye Wright as Velma Kelly (through February 1),Raymond Bokhour as Amos Hart, NaTasha Yvette Williams as Matron "Mama" Morton and R. Lowe as Mary Sunshine.

As previously announced, on Monday, February 2, Grammy Award winner Jennifer Nettles and Carly Hughes will join the Broadway company as Roxie Hart and Velma Kelly, respectively.

With a legendary score by John Kander and Fred Ebb, and a book by Fred Ebb andBob Fosse, Chicago is the longest-running American musical in Broadway history -- and it shows no sign of ever slowing down!
Produced by Barry and Fran Weissler, Chicago is the winner of six 1997 Tony Awards including Best Musical Revival and the Grammy Award for Best Musical Cast Recording.

Set amidst the razzle-dazzle decadence of the 1920s, Chicago is the story of Roxie Hart, a housewife and nightclub dancer who murders her on-the-side lover after he threatens to walk out on her. Desperate to avoid conviction, she dupes the public, the media and her rival cellmate, Velma Kelly, by hiring Chicago's slickest criminal lawyer to transform her malicious crime into a barrage of sensational headlines, the likes of which might just as easily be ripped from today's tabloids.
