Installation Artist William Lamson to Give Free Lecture at Loyola, 2/12

Brooklyn-based installation artist William Lamson will present a free lecture at Loyola University New Orleans Wednesday, Feb. 12 at 6:30 p.m. in room 114 of Miller Hall. The event, in collaboration with Press Street's Antenna Gallery, is part of the Mark Grote Visiting Artist and Biever Guest Lecture Series.

Lamson works with multiple mediums, including video, photography, performance and sculpture. "Between Now and Forever" is Lamson's new exhibition of video and photographic works made in the Mojave Desert, Calif., and White Sands, N.M., between 2011 and 2013. The exhibit will open Saturday, Feb. 8 at Press Street's Antenna Gallery, 3718 St. Claude Ave. in New Orleans. A gallery walkthrough with Lamson is set for Tuesday, Feb. 11 at 7 p.m.

Lamson's work is included in the permanent collections of prestigious museums across the country, such as the Brooklyn Museum, the Dallas Museum of Art, The Museum of Fine Arts in Houston and the Progressive Art Collection in Cleveland, Ohio. He has exhibited extensively across the U.S. and abroad, including MoMA PS1 in New York City and The Kunsthalle Erfurt in Germany. Lamson recently completed site-specific sculptural works for The Indianapolis Museum of Art and Storm King Art Center in Mountainville, N.Y.
