Henry Street Settlement will host its second annual Lillian Wald Symposium. The Symposium, "Immigrant New York: The New Majority," will be held on Tuesday, May 16, 2017, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Abrons Arts Center, 466 Grand Street, New York, NY 10002.

Panelists include Linda Sarsour, racial justice and civil rights activist; Nisha Agarwal, Commissioner, New York City Mayor's Office of Immigrant Affairs; Philip Kasinitz, Ph.D., Presidential Professor of Sociology, CUNY Graduate Center; and Baseera Khan, a 2017 Artist in Residence at the Abrons Arts Center. The event will be moderated by David Garza, Executive Director of Henry Street Settlement.

Community resource information will be available, and refreshments will be served. Simultaneous translation services for Spanish and Chinese speakers will be offered.

Lillian Wald, a Progressive reformer, founded Henry Street Settlement in 1893 on Manhattan's Lower East Side. Today, Henry Street provides more than 60,000 New Yorkers with social service, arts and health care programs from 17 sites on the Lower East Side.
