Guild Hall and Where Are They Going Theatre Group present EXTINCTION by Gabe McKinley previewing March 30-31, opening April 1, and running Wednesdays to Sundays through April 16.

Josh Gladstone, Artistic Director at the John Drew Theater, directs this intimate production where the audience will be seated in the round on the John Drew stage. The play explores the evolution of friendships and the desire to preserve them no matter what the cost.

The cast features four talented young actors Brynne Kraynak, Raye Levine, Sawyer Spielberg, and Eric Svendsen performing this darkly funny drama, which contains adult language and is recommended for mature audiences.

Sawyer Spielberg first brought EXTINCTION to Guild Hall as a 2016 JDTLab work-in-progress. Josh Gladstone saw the potential and offered to direct the play as a full production. Gladstone has worked with Spielberg on numerous East End projects including The Diary of Ann Frank and Of Mice and Men at Bay St as well as Round Table Theatre Company's Hamlet.

This production is produced by Sawyer Spielbeg and Raye Levine, who is also the set designer. The Barefoot Theatre Company is the Associate Producer, Sebastian Paczynski is the Lighting Designer and Tyler Withrop stage manages this production.

Raye Levine is a William Esper Studio graduate and Ensemble Member of the Barefoot Theatre Company. Gabe McKinley's plays have been produced and developed by companies nationally and internationally, including Atlantic Theater Company, Naked Angels, Premiere Stages, The Old Vic, American Theater Company, Ensemble Studio Theater, The LARK, Keen Company, Route 66, Williamstown Theater Festival and Red Dog Squadron, among others. His plays include The Kitchen Sink Play, Welcome Home Rock Rogers, Funny, Floodplains, Skopje, The Source and the critically acclaimed Extinction and CQ/CX (John Gassner Outer Critics Award nomination). A graduate of NYU and The New School for Drama, Gabe lives in Brooklyn.

Josh Gladstone (Director) has served as the Artistic Director of the John Drew Theater at Guild Hall since 2000 where he has produced hundreds of developmental readings and plays including All My Sons starring Laurie Metcalf and Alec Baldwin; Clever Little Lies starring Marlo Thomas; Tony Walton's productions of Tonight at 8:30 starring Blythe Danner, Equus starring Alec Baldwin and Moby Dick Rehearsed starring Peter Boyle; The Underpants by Steve Martin; Long Story Short starring Colin Quinn directed by Jerry Seinfeld; and The Glass Menagerie directed by Harris Yulin starring Amy Irving. At Guild Hall Josh has directed Picasso at the Lapin Agile, Hamlet, Cherry Orchard, Julius Caesar, Macbeth, Romeo & Juliet. Regional credits: Children's Theatre Co., Minneapolis; Shakespeare Theatre, DC; Classic Theater International, Germany; and four seasons as co-founding Artistic Director of Hamptons Shakespeare Festival. Josh studied at Circle in the Square and lives in Springs with his wife Kate Mueth, director of the Neo-Political Cowgirls.

Eric Svendsen studied theatre at Northwestern University. He's been involved with productions at Rogue Machine Theater Company in Los Angeles and Naked Angels in New York. His Credits include starring roles in Auto Parts in Los Angeles as well as A Child's Christmas in Wales by Dylan Thomas at the Actor's Chapel and the award-winning original performance of Sailorboy by Neville Elder.

Sawyer Spielberg studied acting at the Atlantic Theater Company. Sawyer played Peter van Daan in Bay Street Theaters 2013 production of Ann Frank and Bay Streets 2015 production of Of Mice and Men playing Whit. Sawyer also performed in Guild Hall of East Hamptons 2014 production of Hamlet playing Guildenstern and Fransisco. Off Broadway Sawyer has performed at the East 4th St Theatre playing Micha in a production of the Belgrade Trilogy. Played Philip in a production of Safe at the 14th st Y and is currently playing Van in a production of Clover at La Mama.

Brynne Kraynak is an actor and teaching artist based in New York City. She has worked with Tongue in Cheek Theatre, Rattlestick Theater Co., Horse Trade Theater Co., and in the Samuel French and NYC Fringe Festivals. Brynne assisted with TFANA's education division bringing Shakespeare to the classroom, and with Kids On Stage! Summer program through Speranza Theatre Company. Brynne co-founded Fearless Me Films, a Production Company for children that inspired storytelling through film making. Brynne received her M.F.A. in Acting from The New School for Drama in 2009 (Malcom and BetTy Smith Award for excellence and versatility in acting). She graduated from Smith College in 2006, where she studiEd French Literature and Theatre (Smith College Eliot Jr./Heflin Award for distinguished directing and the Denton M. Snyder Acting Prize).
