Imelda Staunton might be taking on another very strong personality on the London stage.

The Daily Mail writes that the GYPSY star is in early talks to play the infamous 'Martha' in Edward Albee's WHO'S AFRAID OF VIRGINIA WOOLF?, helmed by James McDonald for Sonia Friedman Productions in the West End.

The Tony-winning play was last seen in London in 2006, starring the 2005 Broadway revival's leads Kathleen Turner and Bill Irwin as Martha and George, respectively.

Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton portrayed the couple in Mike Nichols's 1966 film; playing Martha earned Taylor an Oscar for Best Actress.

The Broadway-keen, Staunton-led GYPSY took home four Olivier Awards this year, including Best Actress. Staunton's other West End credits include GOOD PEOPLE, SWEENEY TODD, GUYS AND DOLLS and INTO THE WOODS. Among her big screen credits are PRIDE, the HARRY POTTER films as 'Dolores Umbridge', and NANNY MCPHEE.
