Bill Rinesmith, president of ForSight Vision, attended the September board meeting at DreamWrights Youth & Family Theatre to give thanks and recognition for the work DreamWrights does for visually impaired individuals over the past four years. Rinesmith presented an engraved plaque, also inscribed in braille that recognizes the efforts made toward accessibility.

Starting in 2010, DreamWrights began audio describing one performance of each main stage show. This service features a trained audio describer broadcasting live, verbal narration of the onstage visual elements in the performance, including the action, costumes and scenery to patrons via a receiver. Patrons use the devices free-of-charge, on a first-come, first-served basis. In addition, a Touch Tour is offered prior to the audio described performance. The tour allows patrons who are blind or have low vision to touch and explore the set, props, and costume design used in the show. Those wishing to use the audio description services or take the tour are asked to pre-purchase tickets by calling the box office at 717-848-8623 Ext. 1.

Upcoming Audio Described performances are October 25th at 2:30 for The Hobbit and December 13 at 2:30 for The Homecoming.

DreamWrights is the region's non-profit, family-oriented, community theatre in which people of all ages can come together to learn and grow in a safe, supportive and positive environment.
