The Dotted Elk Theatre Company is a New York City-based organization, officially sponsored by Fractured Atlas as a non-profit. Founded in 2011 by director Benjamin Hawthorne and playwright Gregory Paul Thomas, the Dotted Elk's mission is to bring the actual collaborative process of creation back to theatre while exploring what makes us uncomfortable in life and space. We believe that theatre should be a collaboration between the writer, director, actors and crew. For Last Man Out, we took this to an extreme. Casting while the show was merely an idea, we've slowly crafted a play that is alive with the energy each individual brings to rehearsals. Rewrites happened on the spot and continued to happen right up until just a few weeks ago. This play wasn't written, it was birthed out of the labor of dedication and love, giving the world not another random static play, but rather a living, breathing entity that must find its own end, just like the characters on stage.

Last Man Out is a new multi-media play from award-winning playwright Gregory Paul Thomas about seven men who come together for final companionship as they struggle with PTSD, sexual and physical abuse, depression, loss, suffering and most of all, themselves. All planning to commit suicide and brought together by an ad on Craigslist, each have their own reasons for responding, each hoping for something a little different than what they eventually will find. Through their differences, they struggle to find a similar thread that can bind them together more than the very acts of life or death themselves. Whether any of them will make it through the night and come to grips with living or take matters into their own hand depends on ulterior motives and mystic intervention.
