Epic Theatre Center has announced that it will honor company member David Strathairn at its annual gala on Monday, February 6th at Candela Restaurant, New York City. Strathairn received a Best Actor Academy
Award nomination this morning for his work in the film
Good Night, and Good Luck.

Strathairn has been a committed Epic company member since its
inception, participating in residencies at Epic's partner schools, serving as a vital member of Epic's Nominating Committee, performing in workshops and the annual Celebration of First Time Voters, and starring in Epic's acclaimed premiere of Hannah & Martin by Kate Fodor. His Broadway credits include Salome, Dance of Death, Three Sisters and Einstein and the Polar Bear; he has also appeared in many other films.

"Epic Theatre Center is the New York-based, Obie Award-winning company
dedicated to nurturing civic-minded artists and audiences. Epic's signature, highly innovative, and far-reaching education programs in public schools throughout New York and the Northeast are nationally recognized," state press notes.

The company's most recent production was the U.S. Premiere of the Vern Thiessen play, Einstein's Gift. Epic will next present the premiere of the solo play, No Child, written and performed by Nilaja Sun at the Beckett Theatre on Theater Row. Performances begin April 29.
