The Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs (MAC) has announced the next seminar in their ongoing series, "Cabaret as Theatre/Theatre as Cabaret." The series, which explores the origins of shows including Nunsense, Newsical, Jacques Brel…, Closer Than Ever and others, will continue with a seminar at The Triad Theatre on Tuesday, May 22 from 6:30-8pm. The discussion, which begins promptly at 6:30 and will include a Q&A with the audience, will also explore the use of the cabaret venue for unconventional cabaret performances. The event's moderators are Time Out New York's Adam Feldman and Back Stage's Sherry Eaker.

Panelists scheduled to appear include Rick Crom (Newsical), director Gerry Geddes, director and performer Miles Phillips, Jay Rogers (Whoop-dee-Doo!; My Deah!) and Mark Waldrop (Hey, Love: The Songs of Mary Rodgers; Whoop-dee-Doo!). Past seminar topics have been "Obtaining Out-of-Town Bookings," "Producing Your Own CD" and "The History of NYC Cabaret."

The seminar runs Tuesday, May 22nd, 6:30-8:00pm at The Triad Theatre, 158 West 72nd Street. Attendance is $10 for non-MAC members, and MAC members are admitted free. For reservations, call (212) 465-2662 or e-mail hector@hectorcoris.com. For more information, visit www.MACNYC.com.
