Clear Creek Community Theatre to Present THE DIXIE SWIM CLUB, 3/13-29

Five Southern women, whose friendships began many years ago on their college swim team, set aside a long weekend every August to recharge those relationships. Free from husbands, kids and jobs, they meet at the same beach cottage on North Carolina's Outer Banks to catch up, laugh and meddle in each other's lives. "The Dixie Swim Club" focuses on four of those weekends and spans a period of thirty-three years. As their lives unfold and the years pass, these women increasingly rely on one another, through advice and raucous repartee, to get through the challenges (men, sex, marriage, parenting, divorce, and aging) that life flings at them. "The Dixie Swim Club" is a hilarious and touching comedy about friendships that last forever.

Director Jeff Coletta was drawn to this show because he was impressed by the ensemble. "There are no stars in this script. I really liked the characters and I think the audience will find them engaging, interesting and enjoyable. These are characters that you will remember after the play is over."

Coletta has greatly enjoyed bringing the show to life. "I have seen the show, so I know what the finished product is "supposed" to look like. What I am thrilled about is watching it come together. Seeing my talented friends take the words in the script and create three dimensional characters out of them." Coletta added "A challenge for the cast is making sure the humor is heard as well as the more poignant lines. This show is very, very funny, but not at the expense of its characters".

"The Dixie Swim Club" opens Friday, March 13th, and runs through Sunday, March 29th. Performances are 8pm on Fridays and Saturdays, and 2:30pm on Sundays.
