A cast has been assembled for War Brides, a musical drama that will launch the York Theatre Company's Developmental Reading Series.  The show (to which admission is free) will be performed on August 23rd at 7:30 PM at The Theatre at Saint Peter's (in Citigroup Center, 619 Lexington Avenue at 54th Street).

Kristin Maloney, Julie Reyburn, Raissa Katona Bennett (Chess concert) and Vanessa June Marshall will play the title roles of the women who fell in love with and married soliders during World War II.  Jeff Scot Carey, Steve Sterner (Oh, Brother!) and Matt Citron are the men who are torn away from them in battle.  War Brides, which will be directed by Bick Goss and will feature musical direction by Mark Janas, boasts music by Christopher Berg, lyrics by Frank Evans and a book by Ron Sproat.

War Brides has been seen twice previously--in 2002 at the Spirit of Broadway Theatre in Norwich, CT and Buck County, PA's New Hope Performing Arts Festival in 1994.
