With all things SPIDER-MAN: TURN OFF THE DARK making headlines, the show has spurred more than the usual amount of talk for a Broadway production. It's especially unusual for one that hasn't even officially opened yet. Since November, SPIDER-MAN has been in previews at the Foxwoods Theatre, with an opening date currently set for March 15th - for now. Rumor has it that the production will push back its opening once again, this time until June.

Patrick Healy of the New York Times reported the possible change, and it sparked lively discussion from many New York Times readers. Read some of the select comments below:

"The incompetence of the current creative leadership should be obvious by now. Fire the director, jettison the script. Keep the sets and costumes, bring in a proven writer and director, write new music and lyrics as needed. Otherwise, they're just throwing good money after bad." - Josh Hill, New London, Conn.

"Junk the second act. Extend the first act by 20-30 minutes and keep the green guy!" - Brookhawk, Maryland

"Stick a fork in it." - DPeterson, New York

"I keep hearing theater pros saying the Spidey producers should simply admit the show's problems can't be fixed and pull the plug. In my 21 years of producing, I've faced some tough decisions, but none that involved accepting a $65,000,000 loss. When you think about it, spending another 10% - which would take them a long way, given the high grosses the show has been regularly registering - might actually be the prudent choice." - Timothy Childs, New York

Directed by Julie Taymor and featuring a book by Julie Taymor and Glen Berger, and new music and lyrics by U2's Bono and The Edge, SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark is now in previews at Broadway's Foxwoods Theatre (213 West 42nd Street).
