Asian American Arts Alliance Hosts Town Hall for Hurricane Sandy Relief Today, 11/13

Join members of the Asian American arts community to rally together and rebuild in the wake of Hurricane Sandy today, November 13, 2012 at AAARI/CUNY, 25 West 43rd St (between 5th and 6th avenues), 18th Floor, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The Asian American Arts Alliance will be collecting donations, and Amy Schwartzman of the National Coalition for Arts Preparedness and Emergency Response will present on disaster relief resources as well as collect information on how Sandy has affected the community.

This month's Town Hall will also feature special presentations by Victor Maog and Kyoung Park of Asian American theater company Second Generation, and Jennifer Lantzas, a representative of the Clare Weiss Emerging Artist Award. The award is given to emerging artists with compelling proposals for outdoor sculpture in a New York City park. Winners receive $10,000.

It's a potluck - bring something to share. If you're unable to contribute food or drink, the group asks that you make a small monetary donation when you arrive to go toward next month's potluck. If you wish to make a 1-minute pitch or a 4-minute performance, include a one- sentence description in your registration. Introducing the new participation guidelines. Find out more about Town Hall here.
