A starry cast has been assembled for A.R. Gurney's canine comedy Sylvia, running from August 28th through September 9th at the Cape Playhouse in Cape Cod, MA.

Directed by Pamela Hunt, the production will star Nancy Anderson, Linda Dano, Patrick Quinn and Sam Freed.  On a walk in the park, Greg is adopted by Sylvia, a naughty-mouthed dog.  Sylvia thinks Greg is a God for taking her in and truly becomes 'Man's Best Friend.'  Of course, this doesn't go down well with wife, Kate, and a rivalry to match Linda Evans and Joan Collins ensues. Who gets to share the couch, an ice cream cone, or an anniversary trip to the country, with one of you drooling down the neck of the other? ," state Cape notes on the comedy which is by the author of The Dining Room, Love Letters and Indian Blood.

Anderson is a two-time Drama Desk nominee for her work as the title character in the Off-Broadway production of Fanny Hill and as all of the women in Jolson & Co.  Other Broadway credits include Wonderful Town and A Class Act, while she has appeared in Kiss Me, Kate in London.

Perhaps best known for her daytime TV work, Dano was recently seen in the title role of Mame at Bucks County Playhouse.  She is an Emmy Award-winner for her work on "Another World," in which she played romance novelist Felicia Gallant for 17 years, from 1982 through 1999.  Other TV credits include "The Guiding Light," "Desperate Housewives," "Port Charles," "All My Children" and "One Life to Live," while film credits include Star!.

Quinn, who is the president of Actors' Equity, has been seen on Broadway in A Class Act, The Sound of Music, Beauty and the Beast, Damn Yankees, Lend Me a Tenor, Oh Coward! and Fiddler on the Roof.

Freed has appeared on Broadway in Candide and Off-Broadway in BAFO (Best and Final Offer) and Morocco.

Sylvia, originally starring Sarah Jessica Parker and Blythe Danner, among others, was presented Off-Broadway by MTC in 1995.

"The legendary Cape Playhouse has been bringing professional Broadway actors to Cape Cod for 80 years.  Often referred to as the 'Birthplace of the Stars,' the Cape Playhouse has attracted a long litany of famous and talented actors since its first season in 1927.  Since then, the Cape Playhouse has maintained its reputation for producing quality, professional entertainment and each year thousands continue to enjoy superb shows at 'America's Oldest Professional Summer Theatre,'" states the theatre's website.
