A CHORUS LINE to Run 1/14-2/2 at Maltz Jupiter Theatre

Start the New Year off right with A Chorus Line - the dance hit musical for anyone who has ever had a dream and put it all on the line!

The Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize-winning singular sensation bursts onto the Theatre's stage January 14 - February 2, featuring an iconic plot that follows the audition process of theatre "gypsies" as they try to land a job in a Broadway show. Complete with a large orchestra, timeless scenic design and cast of 26 triple threat performers, A Chorus Line is packed with unforgettable Marvin Hamlisch and Edward Kleban songs, including What I did for Love and One.

"A Chorus Line is a revolutionary work of musical theatre artistry, capturing, for the first time, the dancer's life," said Josh Walden, the show's director and choreographer. "The original creators were ahead of their time by believing in the potential of putting a slice of real life - scripted and performed by the dancers who were actually living those lives - on stage for a paying audience to observe."

Walden was recently seen onstage in the Theatre's Carbonell Award-winning production of Hello, Dolly! and served as choreographer for the Theatre's 2010 original musical Academy.

Written by James Kirkwood, Jr. and Nicholas Dante, A Chorus Line is set on the bare stage of a Broadway theatre during an audition for a musical. Created through many taped sessions with Broadway performers, the musical provides a rare glimpse into the personalities of the performers as they describe the events that have shaped their lives and their decisions to become dancers.

Originally directed and choreographed by Michael Bennett, A Chorus Line opened in Broadway in 1975 and became an unprecedented box office hit, receiving 12 Tony Award nominations (and winning nine), in addition to a Pulitzer Prize in 1976. The original Broadway production ran for 6,137 performances, becoming the longest-running production in Broadway history for more than two decades.

"There's a reason why A Chorus Line has been so tremendously successful and continues to inspire generations of theatergoers," said Andrew Kato, the Theatre's producing artistic director. "It's a story about people following their dreams, and features incredible dancing, choreography, music and heart."

The production stars Elizabeth Earley as veteran dancer Cassie, seen recently in the first and second national tours on Mary Poppins. Brian Ogilvie will portray formidable director Zach, seen recently in Mary Poppins on Broadway. Other performers previously seen on the Theatre's stage include Logan Keslar (La Cage aux Folles), KC Fredericks and Gillian Munsayac (The Music Man), Michelle Petrucci (Hello, Dolly!), Nikki Allred and Shain Stroff (Singin' in the Rain).
