Paul Chahidi, Twelfth Night - Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Play
I can't tell you how delighted and in shock I am right now. I switched my phone off at lunch and now it's blowing up. I was having tea with a director friend of mine and when I switched it on afterwards every icon on my phone came up at the same time. I thought, 'Well, I don't think it can be a bad news thing...' The first voicemail I had was from Sonia Friedman congratulating me and telling me that we'd been nominated for 8 Tonys. On a personal level I'm so honored and delighted. It's extraordinary. It's beyond my wildest dreams. I'm so pleased with the production. I feel like it's a great day for ensemble actors and a great day for men in dresses. I'm hoping I can come for the ceremony but I'll be rehearsing Shakespeare in Love. But Sonia is also working on that, so if she can't get me out then I don't know who can!
