The 2014 Madison Fire Island Pines Literary and Theater Weekend will be a salute to Tony Award-winning director/choreographer Jerry Mitchell, and celebration of the many Broadway musicals and Hollywood films to which he has contributed.

Taking place Noon on Sunday, October 5, 2014, at The Madison Fire Island Pines, the event features a special performance by Becky Gulsvig who starred in Hairspray on Broadway (as "Amber Van Tussle"), and in Legally Blonde's national tour (as "Elle Woods"), and has performed at the Tony Awards. Other surprise performances will be followed by a Q&A with Jerry Mitchell, with Christine Pedi (NEWSical the Musical/Host of SiriusXM's "On Broadway") serving as host. The event is produced by Ben Hodges, president of Theatre World Media and editor in chief of the acclaimed Theatre World book series.

Jerry Mitchell is the Tony Award® winner for Best Choreography for Kinky Boots and a core member of the hit Broadway production's creative team, alongside musical legend Cyndi Lauper and theatre icon Harvey Fierstein. Mitchell was also nominated for Best Direction of a Musical for Kinky Boots. The beloved creator/director of Broadway Bares, legendary annual benefit event for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, Mitchell's celebrated choreography has appeared on stage in Hairspray, Legally Blonde, The Full Monty, Catch Me If You Can, the original production of Jekyll & Hyde, and revival of You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown; and on screen, in such films as Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Jeffrey, In & Out, Scent of a Woman, and Drop Dead Gorgeous, among others.
