Viewed through the eye of the Party, this take on Orwell's frighteningly relevant novel leaves behind the narrative of Winston and Julia, instead exploring the world, themes, and peripheral characters. It asks the audience to question their own relationship to truth, indoctrination, sex, community, and torture. War is Peace, Freedom is Slavery, Ignorance is Strength, Tragedy is Comedy.

Reckless Theatre is New York's Grad School of Improvisational Study. Ranked one of the top five improv Comedy Clubs in NYC by TimeOut New York, Reckless pulls from their company and student body to create ensemble-devised flagship shows throughout the year. We run riot with our hearts, out of our heads to create live theatre that hopes and dares to stun and astonish. We are actors, comedians, writers and artists. We roister and revel ensemble. Gazetted and ridiculous. We improvise with craft and care and sting and bite. We are wild. We are rowdy. We are reckless.

Performances are at the Reckless Theatre at 527 W. 29th St. on Friday, July 28; Saturday, July 29; and Friday, August 4 at 7:30 and 9:30pm as well as Saturday, August 5 at 7:30pm.

Tickets are available online at http://www.recklesstheatre.com/r-shows/1984/ and at the venue, 30 minutes before showtime. Tickets for 1984 are $10. Follow Reckless Theatre on twitter @RecklessTheatre. For more information about Reckless Theatre, visit https://recklesstheatre.com/.
