14th Annual Kids Night On Broadway To Promote Broadway Green Alliance

The Broadway League announced that the 14th annual Kids' Night on Broadway (KidsNightonBroadway.com) will feature and promote the Broadway Green Alliance as part of this year's cause-related component. Kids' Night on Broadway is when kids ages 6 to 18 can see Broadway shows for free when accompanied by a full-paying adult. A Kids' Night on Broadway ticket includes pre-theatre parties, restaurant discounts, parking discounts, special edition Kids' Playbill provided by Theatre Development Fund, educational programs and more. Tickets are currently on sale for Tuesday February 2, Wednesday, February 3, and Sunday, February 7, 2010.

Participating Shows include: Billy Elliot The Musical, Chicago, Fela! , Hair, In The Heights, The Lion King , Mary Poppins, Mamma Mia!, Memphis, Next To Normal, The Phantom Of The Opera, Rodgers & Hammerstein's South Pacific, West Side Story, Wicked along with the Off Broadway shows Avenue Q and Stomp.

The attached video features some members of Broadway's Kids Advisory Board advising simple ways for theatergoers to make their homes and communities a little more green. The Kids Advisory Board is composed of thirty theatre-loving kids ages 11 to 16 from around the country who help develop and implement kid-oriented programs, events and digital initiatives.

The Broadway Green Alliance (www.BroadwayGreen.com) will be involved in Kids' Night on Broadway pre-theatre activities in February. The BGA is an industry wide initiative seeking to educate, motivate, and inspire the theatrical community to act more environmentally friendly in both theatrical production and their everyday lives. Working with the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), the BGA is deeply committed to being a leader in environmental stewardship across all areas of the theatre industry to leave a cleaner, greener world for generations yet to come.

On December 16, 2009, the BGA marked its one-year anniversary by hosting a successful industry-wide E-Waste event in Duffy Square. Actors, union members, producers, general managers and theatres came together in support of the BGA, collecting over 6000 lbs of electronic waste with the help of WeRecycle!
