The multi-award winning Shanghai Acrobats of the People's Republic of China takes center stage at Spencer Theateron Friday, October 7 at 7 p.m., presenting a night of mind boggling twists and turns and daring-do.

The Chinese troupe of 43 athletes are lauded for seamlessly weaving theatrical elements of dance, choreographed movement, balance and mime into their jaw-dropping feats. As one of the most influential in the world, this performance troupe has been a winner of all top levels of world-wide acrobatic competitions for nearly 60 years. They've also appeared as regulars, in recent tours, with Ringling Brothers and Barnum Bailey Circus, Mystere of Cirque du Soleil at Treasure Island Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas and with Stardust World Christmas circuses in Europe.

Each of the company's acrobats are proven masters of such Chinese acrobatic essentials as pole climbing, hoop diving, lantern twirling, ball balancing and juggling balls with feet, shoulder ballet, unicycle troupes, silk spinning, aerial hoop contortions and building towering pyramids with their bodies balanced on chairs- and oh, so much more. These jaw-dropping feats, each beautifully choreographed with precise movement, expression and expansive music, is the centerpiece of their program "Shanghai Nights," at the Spencer Theater on October 7 at 7 p.m.

Excellent seats starting at just $39 are available for the one night only performance. Call the Spencer Box Office at 888.818.7872 or go online to www.spencertheater.com for tickets. A pre-show sweet & sour sesame chicken buffet ($20) is also available at 5 p.m. Come see why the Shanghai Acrobats are the pride and joy of China at Spencer Theater!
