What happens when the archive forgets you ever existed? This Play Is a Dildo sets out to find out, and to find what was lost.

Follow a parent-for-hire (nanny) and a partner-for-hire (sex worker) on a sweaty, messy, joyous quest for lost queer and sex worker stories, for chosen family, and for a future worth fighting for. Part confessional, part excavation, part party, this bold new work refuses to sit still and refuses to be forgotten.

This Play Is a Dildo is an experimental, multimedia, and interactive theatre piece that plunges into consent, intimate labour, and the histories that institutions have chosen not to preserve. It asks whose stories get to be remembered, who gets to tell them, and what we owe to the people who came before us in the margins.

The piece made its world premiere at Underbelly Soho Scratch Night in January 2025, before a work in progress run at Theatre Deli as part of Shift + Space in March. Now it arrives at The Pleasance for its final WIP outing, sharper, stranger, and more itself than ever.
