The Triumph of Death at Pleasance Theatre

The Triumph of Death is a farce about the holy trinity: Art, Money and Death. Featuring clowns, spooky puppets and musical numbers, it is a comedy awash with the blood of the innocent. An activist group defaces a painting and calls for the museum to drop their dubious funders. Problem is, if you dig deep enough, they are all dubious. The Triumph of Death takes you on an immoral quest with our ‘hero’, an aggressively people pleasing Head of Development, as she tries to save The Arts while making everyone happy. She is pulled in opposite directions by a queer-adjacent nepo-baby artist Piet, and a conniving pharmaceutical heiress slash arts patron Lady Schmackler. Suddenly, a brush with Death themself forces her to reconsider her ethical position. Can the Head of Development get away with making the institution’s dirtiest donors anonymous? Can she cleanse the museum of blood money? Will she die in the process?
