Footloose could go for an open-ended run at The Aldwcyh (where Fame is) but its looking to opt for a limited run after Hayfever at The Haymarket.

Geilgud - Im not sure whats happening there! I think Dancing in the Streets is looking for a transfer so that could go into there?

Nice to see alot of musicals out.

Mack and Mabel at The Criterion will good to see.

Hairspray is rumoured to come in Spring 2007 now...although some say it has got The Savoy Theatre, however i doubt this very much so.

Bill Kenwright (yes ok I know - not a great start!) is producing it at a theatre to be announced this Summer/Autumn (likely Lyric).

Stars in the rumour mill include Denise Van Outen (his original favourite), Claire Sweeney, Emma Williams, Martine McCutcheon and Ian Watkins (H from Steps) who has previously worked with Kenwright in Joseph at the New London in 2003.

That's all that's known so far.

You could add ZORRO to the list (Kenright production) and IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE (from creators of Jerry Springer - Aldwych for Christmas I think). Both of those were rumoured for 2006/2007.

Please please tell me that 'Fame!' isn't closing! That would be the biggest tragedy! Ok so all those shows are great but i will be mabel in fame! Haha.
only joking, but it would be sad to see it close. I believe it is the only decent 'dancey' musical left in the West End.

For risk of annoying you by updating my original post, I have decided change some information! FOOTLOOSE is now 'confirmed' to come to the Novello Theatre in April, SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE has confirmed at the Wyndham's and DIRTY DANCING is supposedly to come to the Aldwych in the Autumn.

Does anyone know if 'Hairspray' is coming back for definite? I got quite far in the auditions for Tracy and I wanna make sure I get right in there again if it does come back, it can do no harm I guess!

Well...
All I currently know is that Guys and Dolls has 'UNCONFIRMED' that it will close at the Piccadilly this Autumn before embarking on a UK tour - THIS HAS NOT BEEN CONFIRMED so don't kill of the production before its announced its own end!!! However that's the plan.

Live Nation and David Ian still own the rights to Hairspray and likely that Hairspray will open Spring 2007 at the Piccadilly.
Nothing has been confimed, though I can say that if Hairspray doesn;t open by next Spring, certainly Live Nation are looking to scrap any plans completely for a London opening (it's taken so long as it is... Cambridge on, off, on, Novello on, Novello off etc.)

Cam Mac is looking at putting Les Mis into The Novello but nothing is confimred - closing the show is still ont he cards.

Hairspray is def. back on for spring 07..rumour, i stress, are the producers are looking at The New London/Piccadilly and Savoy.

Look out April/Early May for a press release on Sound of Music.

Dirty Dancing is holding open auditons for all you budding actors!

Speaking of Mack and Mabel....Can David Soul sing? ( I know he did Jerry Springer but was he any good?). Can he also play an instrument? (This is a production where the actors all have to play an instrument).

I'm coming to the UK for 6 days in June and have already booked a ticket to see Patrick Stewart in Antony and Cleopatra (in Stratford) and to see Judi Dench in Hay Fever. I'm still weighing what else to see- and there are too many great choices...It's so hard to decide.
"It does what a musical is supposed to do; it takes you to another world. And it gives you a little tune to carry in your head. Something to take you away from the dreary horrors of the real world. A little something for when you're feeling blue. You know?"

The Stage newspaper sometimes have ads for West End auditions. Wicked placed an Open Audition advert in there a few weeks ago, and Chicago is doing the same at the moment: http://www.thestage.co.uk/recruitment/detail.php/02541608

Sound Of Music excites me. I hope they really concentrate on making it a very acting focused production. Its a much deeper show than people give it credit for

As far as Hairspray goes, there are three sets that exist. The New York set, the tour set, and the set that's in Vegas. The WE didn't get Hairspray last year, because the former Toronto set went to Vegas. The next leg of the US tour will finish June 14, 2007. Another set is most likely not being built, so while it's very possible the tour set will be put on a barge across the atlantic after the tour closes, don't count on it before then.
