At the opening of this episode of Superstar, Andrew Lloyd Webber paid tribute to his collaborator Tim Rice, who he credited with creating the plot of Jesus Christ Superstar (nary a mention of the Gospels, of course).

After that, we found out that Dirk would be singing for survival once more, this time against Tim. The choice of song this time round was Christina Aguilera's 'Hurt' - a bit of a contrast to last night's 'Memory' - and it was Tim who Lloyd Webber chose to save, due to his "connection with the material".

Lloyd Webber emphasised tonight that he wanted to look for a great actor with charisma, examining the story-telling skills of the contestants.

This led to Jason Donovan patronising people with an equivalent amount of theatrical experience to him.

Meanwhile, Dawn French continued her role of flirting with as many men in the contest as possible, and at one point seemed to be proposing to kidnap Roger Wright so that he stayed with her rather than heading back to the theatre.
