The Ambassador Theatre Group (ATG) today announced a new senior role for David Blyth as Property Director commencing on 28 March 2011. This is an Executive Board appointment and David will head up the Property, Health & Safety and Environmental Teams. He will continue to be based at ATG's St. Martin's Lane office.

This is the first of a series of new senior roles/appointments to be made by ATG as part of the Group's continued expansion.

As Property Director, David will take responsibility for the maintenance, equipment and enhancement of the Group's many beautiful venues. His remit will cover responsibility for all capital expenditure, licensing, utilities and insurance of all buildings. A major part of his role will include important responsibilities for Health & Safety, and the roll-out of greener working practices as ATG endeavours to become a more environmentally sustainable business.

Over the past 28 years, David has been involved in theatre and arts entertainment management in both the commercial and subsidised sectors. Between 1983 and 1987, he gained experience in a managerial capacity with two major West End theatre owners - Maybox Group and Stoll Moss Theatres.

In the latter part of 1987, he joined the management team of the local authority run Fairfield Hall Arts Complex in Croydon and over the next five years was Head of Operations. David joined The Ambassadors Woking as General Manager in 1992 and became Head of Operations for the company in March 1997, while retaining the role of Chief Executive of the Ambassadors Woking. In February 2000, he joined the Board of ATG as Operations Director. David relinquished his role as Chief Executive of Woking in September 2006 to concentrate on his expanded position of Operations and Buildings Development Director.

David Blyth, ATG's Property Director, said: "This is the start of an exciting new future with ATG and I'm very much looking forward to the many great challenges that lie ahead in my new role as Property Director. I feel privileged to work in some of the world's finest venues with an exceptional team of people and there is real positivity about what we can all achieve in developing our property portfolio."

Rosemary Squire, ATG's Joint Chief Executive, said: "I'd like to wish David every success in his new role which is a positive development for our business allowing even greater focus on our buildings, creating more opportunities in them and for the Group to benefit further from David's great experience and detailed knowledge of our property portfolio. We're all looking forward to working with David in his new role."

Co-founded by Howard Panter and Rosemary Squire in 1992, the Ambassador Theatre Group (ATG) is the largest owner/operator of theatres in the UK with 39 venues, an internationally recognised theatre producer and a leader in theatre ticketing services.

Current and recent ATG co-productions include Ghost the Musical, Monty Python's Spamalot, The Misanthrope, West Side Story, Elling, Guys and Dolls, Sweeney Todd, Company, Exit the King and The Rocky Horror Show.
