Wine in the Wilderness at Studio Theatre

Written by Alice Childress and directed by Psalmayene 24, this 1969 classic follows Bill, a painter sheltering during the Harlem riots of July 1964, who is introduced to a woman his friends think could model for his series on Black womanhood. As their borough burns, Tommy and Bill flirt, butt heads, and wrestle with class, colorism, and worth. This production marks the third in Psalmayene 24's series of twentieth-century classics of Black theatre at Studio, following The Colored Museum and Purlie Victorious.
