A modern world premiere restoring the alliance of Madame de Pompadour and Jean-Philippe Rameau to the stage for the first time since 1748, following Cupid as he rearranges the love and lust of Uranie, Adonis, and Venus. The fully-staged baroque opera features soprano Kayleigh Sprouse, soprano Elizabeth Sutphen, soprano Emilie Kealiani, and bass-baritone Phillip Lopez. Opera Lafayette partners with Folger Shakespeare Library, home of the world's largest collection of Shakespeare materials, to bring baroque opera into a venue dedicated to the same early modern artistic traditions.
