Arena Stage & HEART Will Present Free Pre-Show Talk With THE MOTION Playwright
Christopher Chen will discuss his work at Arena Stage's Fichandler Stage, moderated by HEART co-founder Wonnie Kim
Arena Stage, in partnership with HEART: DMV AAPI Theatre Alliance, will host The Motion: In Conversation with Christopher Chen, a pre-show Q&A event with the playwright of THE MOTION.
The event will take place at Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater in Washington, D.C.
The event is presented in collaboration with THE MOTION, which will run May 6 through June 14, 2026, on Arena Stage’s Fichandler Stage.
The program will take place Friday, May 8, 2026, beginning at 6:00 p.m. Admission is free, with advance RSVP required. The evening will open with a networking reception, followed by a conversation and Q&A with Chen at 6:45 p.m. Attendees will also have the opportunity to attend an 8:00 p.m. preview performance of THE MOTION.
The conversation will be moderated by Wonnie Kim, Artistic Producing Lead and Co-Founder of HEART: DMV AAPI Theatre Alliance, and will focus on Chen’s creative process, as well as broader themes of identity and performance within contemporary AAPI theatre.
THE MOTION follows four scholars whose debate leads to an unraveling of reality, exploring questions of memory, belief, morality, and human connection.
