Vancouver Symphony Orchestra Music Director Salvador Brotons leads the orchestra in his own Virtus, Op.53, alongside Grieg's Piano Concerto in A minor featuring pianist Yulianna Avdeeva, and Beethoven's Symphony No. 6 Pastoral. The program opens with an enigmatic flute solo before unfolding into a virtuosic dialogue between flute and piano. Grieg's concerto bursts with lyrical intensity, vigorous rhythms, and Norwegian folk color, while Beethoven's symphony offers a celebration of nature.
