IT WALKS AROUND THE HOUSE AT NIGHT and More Set For Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch 2026 Autumn Season

Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch has announced its Autumn 2026 season, featuring new work, touring productions, and family programming. The season includes a new drama with live magic, a haunted house story, a comedy inspired by Greek mythology, and the theatre’s annual pantomime.

THE DISAPPEARING MAN

October 15 – 31, 2026

From Essex playwright Kenny Emson, The Disappearing Man is a new drama featuring live magic. The play follows Bazza Cadabra, a magician returning to Clacton-on-Sea for a final comeback while reconnecting with his son. The production is directed by Alex Thorpe and produced in collaboration with HighTide, with a national tour to follow.

IT WALKS AROUND THE HOUSE AT NIGHT

September 24 – 27, 2026

It Walks Around the House at Night is a new play by Tim Foley, following an out-of-work actor hired to portray a ghost at a countryside manor. As the role develops, the boundaries between performance and reality begin to blur.

OH ZEUS!

October 7 – 10, 2026

Le Navet Bete’s Oh Zeus! presents a comedic retelling of Greek mythology. The production features three performers portraying multiple roles in a story that moves through Olympus, the Underworld, and beyond.

THE TIGER WHO CAME TO TEA

August 25 – 27, 2026

The stage adaptation of The Tiger Who Came to Tea will be presented as part of the theatre’s family programming, featuring music, magic, and audience interaction.

ROBIN HOOD

November 18, 2026 – January 2, 2027

The theatre’s annual pantomime, Robin Hood, will return for the festive season. Set in the Forest of Havering, the production continues the theatre’s tradition of presenting locally focused family entertainment.

Additional Programming

Also featured as part of the wider programme is Caroline: A New Musical (May 6 – 16), inspired by the story of pirate radio station Radio Caroline.

Co-Creative Director Alex Thorpe said the season reflects the theatre’s focus on collaboration and presenting touring work alongside new productions. Playwright Kenny Emson also noted the significance of presenting his work in Essex.
