La vincitrice del Tony Cynthia Erivo e il performer di musical Michael Feinstein sono tra i protagonisti confermati per il National Book Festival della Library of Congress, che ritorna sabato 22 agosto presso il Walter E. Washington Convention Center a Washington, D.C.

Una tradizione letteraria, il National Book Festival 2026 si svolge come parte della celebrazione della Library dedicata all'America 250: È la tua storia, offrendo un'esperienza narrativa multifacetica con una programmazione ampliata. Durante la giornata, i partecipanti ascolteranno conversazioni con più di 80 autori provenienti da molteplici generi letterari. Inoltre, ci saranno programmi dedicati alla musica, al cinema, ai suoni registrati, alla storia dei veterani, al folklore americano e altro ancora, fornendo un'opportunità di esplorare l'ampia gamma delle collezioni e dei programmi della Library durante tutto l'anno.

Erivo sarà presente per discutere la sua autobiografia, "Simply More: A Book for Anyone Who Has Been Told They’re Too Much." Il cantante e pianista Feinstein riflette sulla collaborazione con Liza Minelli per la sua autobiografia "Kids, Wait Till You Hear This!" Il National Book Festival si svolgerà sabato 22 agosto, dalle 9:00 alle 20:00 presso il Walter E. Washington Convention Center a Washington, D.C. Le porte si apriranno alle 8:30. Il festival è gratuito e aperto a tutti. Per la prima volta quest'anno, sarà necessario un biglietto gratuito per accedere al festival, ma non per i programmi individuali all'interno del festival. I biglietti possono essere riservati su loc.gov/bookfest.

Per oltre un quarto di secolo, il National Book Festival ha riunito coloro che amano leggere e gli autori che li ispirano per una giornata di scoperta. Il festival è stato ospitato per la prima volta dalla Library of Congress nel 2001 con l'ex first lady Laura Bush, che si è ispirata al molto apprezzato Texas Book Festival da lei fondato.

Oltre alla varietà di conversazioni con gli autori, il festival offre un ampio range di attività per famiglie, laboratori e programmi interattivi per partecipanti di tutte le età. Questi includono narrazione al Story District; attività pratiche che collegano scienza e narrazione al STEM District; opportunità di apprendimento nello Spazio Workshop; presentazioni da esperti della Library riguardo al lavoro innovativo svolto nella Library nazionale; e un viaggio letterario in giro per il paese nell'area Roadmap to Reading.

Per i lettori che non possono partecipare di persona al festival, gli eventi sul Main Stage saranno trasmessi in diretta su loc.gov/bookfest. I video delle presentazioni saranno disponibili su loc.gov e sul canale YouTube della Library poco dopo il festival.
