Cynthia Erivo, Michael Feinstein Bland Headliners för 2026…

Tony-vinnaren Cynthia Erivo och musikteaterperformern Michael Feinstein är bland huvudnumren som bekräftats för Library of Congress National Book Festival, som återvänder på lördag, den 22 augusti, på Walter E. Washington Convention Center i Washington, D.C. 

Som en litterär tradition ankommer 2026 års Nationella Bokfestival som en del av Bibliotekets firande av America 250: It’s Your Story, och erbjuder en mångsidig berättarupplevelse med utökad programmering. Under dagen kommer deltagarna att höra samtal med mer än 80 författare från en mängd litterära genrer. Dessutom kommer det finnas program som lyfter fram musik, film, inspelad ljud, veteraners historia, amerikansk folkliv och mer, vilket ger en inblick i det omfattande utbudet av bibliotekets samlingar och program som pågår året runt.

Erivo kommer att vara närvarande för att diskutera sin memoar, “Simply More: A Book for Anyone Who Has Been Told They’re Too Much.” Sångaren och pianisten Feinstein reflekterar över sitt samarbete med Liza Minelli i hennes memoar “Kids, Wait Till You Hear This!” Andra huvudnummer inkluderar regissören Martin Scorsese, performern Kate McKinnon, författaren Ann Patchett och fler. Den Nationella Bokfestivalen kommer att äga rum på lördag, den 22 augusti, från 9.00 till 20.00 på Walter E. Washington Convention Center i Washington, D.C. Dörrarna öppnar kl. 8.30. Festivalen är gratis och öppen för alla. För första gången i år krävs det gratis biljetter för inträde till festivalen, men inte för individuella program inom festivalen. Biljetter kan reserveras på loc.gov/bookfest.  

I mer än ett kvarts sekel har den Nationella Bokfestivalen samlat människor som älskar att läsa och författarna som inspirerar dem för en dag av upptäcktsfärd. Festivalen arrangerades för första gången av Library of Congress 2001 med tidigare första dam Laura Bush, som inspirerades av den mycket framgångsrika Texas Bokfestival som hon grundade.

Förutom den variation av författarsamtal, erbjuder festivalen ett brett utbud av familjevänliga aktiviteter, workshops och interaktiva program för deltagare i alla åldrar. Dessa inkluderar berättande i Story District; praktiska aktiviteter som kopplar samman vetenskap och berättande i STEM District; lärande möjligheter i Workshop Space; presentationer från biblioteksexperter om innovativt arbete som pågår vid nationens bibliotek; och en litterär resa runt i landet i Roadmap to Reading-området.

För bokälskare som inte kan delta i festivalen personligen, kommer evenemang på Main Stage att livestreamas på loc.gov/bookfest. Videor av presentationer kommer att göras tillgängliga på loc.gov och på bibliotekets YouTube-kanal strax efter festivalen.

C-SPAN:s Book TV kommer tillbaka till den Nationella Bokfestivalen som mediepartner för att livestreama utvalda evenemang och intervjua utvalda författare. Mediepartners inkluderar också WAMU, NPR och The Washington Post.
