VIDEO: Go Inside Rehearsals For COME FROM AWAY Creators Benefit Concert Of First Musical In Toronto
by Alan Henry - Jan 15, 2020
In July 2009, in the backroom of a narrow shop, two young, first-time playwrights performed their first musical at the Toronto Fringe. The show had a quirky title that immediately got it attention. When the first audiences saw it, they knew they were witnessing something unique from writers who had a very promising future. The show became a Fringe sensation. Four months later, David Mirvish, the largest Canadian commercial theatre producer, presented a longer vision of the show at the 700-seat Panasonic Theatre (now the CAA Theatre), where it was extended five times. Go inside rehearsals for the one night benefit in the video below!

BWW Review: Musical Stage Company's FUN HOME is a Little Show with a lot of Heart
by Taylor Long - Apr 23, 2018
The Musical Stage Company has done it again. FUN HOME, presented as part of the off-Mirvish subscription series, is a testament to the power of effective musical theatre. With its gripping exploration of a dysfunctional family struggling with identity - internally and externally - a book and lyrics by Lisa Kron, and music by Jeanine Tesori (Thoroughly Modern Millie, Shrek The Musical), FUN HOME packs a punch. It may be the biggest show in the Musical Stage Company's history, but FUN HOME is really an intimate story about love and acceptance.

BWW Review: Gasps All Around at Mirvish's DISGRACED
by Taylor Long - Nov 17, 2017
A lesson in what not to say at a dinner party, Mirvish's presentation of Ayad Akhtar's DISGRACED is tense and unsettling.
